Hawaii is a really special place for me because my two brothers and I lived on a rural farm on the Big Island years ago. We eventually all moved back home to Colorado for our own reasons, but we still share that special place. I wrote the lyrics for Island Home while on a brothers trip back to the island of Hawaii last fall. While there, I couldn’t help but reminisce about my past on the islands; the jungles, beaches, an endless summer full of old friends and lost love…where many a lazy afternoon were spent lounging on the lanai, writing up a new tune.
Island Home is about a dream to one day have my own place in the islands, which can be a tough thing to do. I was in love with this one girl at the time I lived out there, but there was always other things getting in the way. I dreamed of having a place for the two of us in Hawaii, so we could finally be together under one roof. But… it never happened. We moved to opposite ends of the globe and our dream stayed in Hawaii, lingering like an old ghost in paradise.
So while we were back on the island in the fall, I bought a used guitar on craigslist and started writing this song. I recorded a demo while in Kona, and carried it across the Big Island, Kauai, Oahu, and finally New Zealand for a month long surf trip. We filmed the whole way, stocking up footage for what will hopefully become some pretty cool visuals for Island Home.
Once back in Colorado I teamed up with my roommate/producer/guitarist G Money to record the new song in our home studio, Dub Farm Records. G Money featured on the recording as well, adding his own brand of lyricism to the track. Analog synths bring warmth to the music, along with a pulsing groove and dreamy vocals that speak of love in a now faraway island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean.
The single drops on all digital platforms on June 5th at 12am.

LYRICS
I can still see that setting sun, why did we ever have to run?
Back on the islands, we always took our time, can’t get those islands off my mind
So lets build a home next to the sea, back to that place where we were free
By crystal waters, and palm trees, I hear the ocean calling me
She’s sayin’ come back home, by the sea, this is your island home, by the sea
Somehow I feel I’ve always known, one day we’d call this island home
We’ll look around, at all the love we found, planted a seed and now its grown
So lets build a home next to the sea, back to that place where we were free
By crystal waters, and palm trees, I hear the ocean calling me
She’s sayin’ come back home, by the sea, this is your island home, by the sea
