Hailing from the small yet musically rich mountain town of Lyons Colorado, Stylie revives the classic sounds of dub reggae while blending in elements of pop, electronica, and rock. Modern synth sounds, heavy drum and bass, and catchy melodic hooks comprise their original style. Live, the band stands out with its emphasis on tight grooves, 4 part vocal harmonies, and ‘on the fly’ dub controls via computer. The group is heavily influenced by modern American reggae bands like John Browns Body, Slightly Stoopid, and Rebelution, with a deep appreciation of classic Jamaican pioneers like Peter Tosh, Culture, and Lee Scratch Perry.
Stylie was formed in 2017, when a group of local Boulder musicians discovered a common love for reggae. They quickly began crafting their sound in the basement of an old farm house, lovingly called the Dub Farm. In 2019, Dub Farm Records was born and now the band is free to write, record, and produce their music in a studio all their own.
Currently Stylie is working on their first EP release, due out early 2020. They are constantly pushing new content on social media, and fresh weekly “Dub Harvests” are dropped every single week in video form, via YouTube, Facebook and Instagram TV.
